Have you been interested in natural dyes but unsure on where to start or not getting the results you were hoping for?

During this 1 day workshop you will gather an understanding of the foundations of natural dyes, creating your own natural dyed swathes of fabric from several different dye baths and, a shawl.

I will offer handouts so that you can take all the foundational knowledge home to continue your explorations. The document will outline all the content from the workshop alongside highlighting my sources for your own further reading and investigations as well as some of my own discoveries.

This workshop is intended for beginners and will cover:

Pre-stages of fabric selection and preparation.
Mordants, how to prepare and use.
How to test, gather and prepare leaf and organic matter. Ethics of wild-harvesting.
Dyeing methods. 
Drying, washing and caring for natural dyed works.
How to save on water and other resources.
Material and process safety.

Group Size:
